Preparing for What’s Next

Over the last several years, temporary COVID-era funding has helped strengthen services for survivors across Colorado - including right here in Routt County.

Through these one-time investments, Advocates of Routt County has been able to expand and stabilize critical services, invest in staff capacity, improve support for survivors of sexual violence, and respond to growing community needs without reducing access to care.

But those funds are now coming to an end.

For decades, Colorado’s Domestic Violence Program (DVP) has been Advocates’ second-largest single source of funding. The State of Colorado recently announced that the final stimulus dollars supporting victim services will be fully spent by September 2026. As a result, organizations like ours should expect smaller state funding awards moving forward.

Funding sources dedicated to Colorado’s Domestic Violence Program

This isn't a crisis—but it is a reminder.

The challenges facing nonprofits today extend far beyond any single grant or funding source. Government priorities shift. Economic conditions change. Federal and state budgets fluctuate. Yet the need for advocacy, crisis response, prevention, and survivor support remains constant.

That's why we're investing in our future through Rooted in Strength.

Rooted in Strength is about ensuring that Advocates of Routt County - and all of our programs - can continue serving our community regardless of changes in the funding landscape. By building stronger support today, we're preparing for the uncertainties of tomorrow and creating a more sustainable future for the people who depend on our services.

Because though funding may change over time, our commitment to survivors never will.
