BETTER TOMORROW’S SOCIAL JUSTICE TRAINING SERIES

From Awareness to Action brings people together to understand harm, strengthen how we respond, and help create a safer Yampa Valley.

Better Tomorrow’s ongoing training series connects social justice with the choices we make in our workplaces, relationships, and community. Through learning, conversation, and reflection, participants explore how power and oppression shape people’s experiences and what it means to put care, prevention, and accountability into practice.

WHY THIS SERIES MATTERS

Someone experiencing harm may first turn to a friend, coworker, teacher, or neighbor. The response they receive can shape whether they feel heard and supported.

From Awareness to Action helps community members prepare for those moments while also examining the conditions that allow harm to continue. We explore how individual actions, community attitudes, and institutional practices affect access to safety and support.

WHAT WE EXPLORE

BRINGING BETTER TOMORROW’S PROGRAMS TOGETHER

  • Advocates of Routt County contributes expertise in relationship violence, human trafficking, and survivor advocacy.

  • Brighter World Child Advocacy Center brings a focus on responding to child abuse and supporting children and families.

  • COMMA Projects contributes prevention education around consent, boundaries, healthy relationships, and restorative justice.

  • Queer Futures brings a focus on LGBTQIA2S+ inclusion, safety, and belonging.

Together, these perspectives help participants see the connections between preventing harm, supporting people affected by it, and addressing barriers to care.

Our goal is for participants to carry what they learn into daily life: listening without blame, respecting someone’s choices, recognizing harmful behavior, and knowing where to turn for support.

We also hope the series encourages people to question practices that exclude others or make help harder to access. Over time, we want this learning to strengthen relationships and collaboration across our community, so more people can find support and experience safety and belonging.
